Saint Francis (1182-1226) is the founder of the Franciscan Order and one of the most famous and beloved saints of the Church. He renounced worldly wealth, preaching the importance of simplicity and poverty based on the ideals of the Gospel. He was known for his love of nature and animals, especially birds.
This icon is wood-mountedon 5/8" Pro-Wood, with tee-slots milled in the back for easy hanging. This icon is finished in classic cherry to replicate the traditional icon red, in keeping with Byzantine tradition. It comes with a descriptive pamphlet explaining the symbolism and history of the image. Made in the Conception Abbey USA.
