There are many titles of Mary in the church. She can be called upon for the afflicted. She is director of the Angels who are guardians of humans, control over monsters, protector of pilgrims and travelers, against danger and evil, for souls in purgatory, gives strength in suffering and compassion for those who suffer, help with children, childbirth and sinners, help in sickness, and illumination of mind through her wisdom.
 
Prayer at the back of  the retablo: "Blessed Mother of Christ, guide me in my spiritual growth toward illumination of mind through your wisdom."
