St. Bernadette Mini Retablo Patroness of the Sick, the Poor, Family, Shepherds and Shepherdesses, and People Ridiculed for their Faith, invoked against Poverty.

At the age of 14 the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette. It was the first of 18 visitations. During the 15th apparition the Virgin told Bernadette to have the priest build a chapel in her honor. The priest replied by saying he needed a sign of roses. Instead, the Virgin made an eternal spring come forth.

The chapel was built in Lourdes in honour of the Virgin. Bernadette became a very humble nun and died at age 35. When asked in later years how she avoided pride at being chosen by the Virgin, she replied 'The Blessed Virgin chose me only because I was so ignorant.' Feast Days: April 16th or February 18th.

A Retablo is a devotional painting derived from traditional Catholic Church Art, often on rectangular wooden board that illustrate holy images such as Christ, the Virgin Mary or Saints.
